Role Overview 
The Business Development Manager will support Medexus Pharma’s strategic growth priorities by supporting a disciplined business development function which supports overall strategic and business initiatives. This external facing role will help in identifying and evaluating a variety of opportunities for licensing, partnering, alliances and transactions, supporting opportunity evaluation, diligence coordination, and early integration planning as needed. This position partners cross-functionally with Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, and HR. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Build and advance a healthy outbound opportunity pipeline through targeted prospecting, structured outreach, and ongoing partner engagement. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective partners to generate and progress partnership opportunities. 
  • Actively manage inbound business development opportunities, ensuring timely follow up, qualification, internal alignment, and accurate tracking within CRM or BD systems. 
  • Maintain strong awareness of market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and emerging partnership opportunities to inform targeting and outreach efforts. 
  • Lead opportunity screening activities, including high level assessments, internal summaries, recommendations, and pipeline reporting. 
  • Support diligence and transaction activities as appropriate, including coordination of information requests and preparation of internal materials. 
  • Represent Medexus at conferences and partnering meetings, conducting in person meetings and networking to build relationships and uncover new opportunities. 
  • Use AI tools such as ChatGPT to enhance research, screening, and drafting efficiency in accordance with Medexus policies and compliance standards. 
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of business development processes, tools, and templates. 

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Economics, or a related field.  
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate business development, commercial or sales roles with a strong track record of relationship-building, preferably within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry 
  • Demonstrated experience driving outbound business development efforts, including prospecting, partner engagement, and opportunity advancement. 
  • Strong negotiation, influence, and relationship building skills with the ability to engage external partners and align internal stakeholders. 
  • Sound commercial judgment with the ability to assess strategic and portfolio fit at a high level. 
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with CRM systems or BD databases is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to accelerate research, screening, and drafting while following confidentiality, data security, and compliance requirements. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort engaging external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-confidentiality environment. 
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and learn new concepts quickly. 

Additional Information: 
  • Compensation range: $140,000 – $170,000 USD 
  • Travel or other requirements: Remote position; up to 10% travel. International travel and working hours intermittently required.

Compensation

$140,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
